The Engwe E26 is the full-size, non-folding e-bike in the Engwe range — proper 26" × 4.0" wheels for stability and rolling speed, hydraulic disc brakes, an 87-mile PAS range from the 48V 16Ah battery, and a choice of two frame styles to match how you ride. Pick the High-Step diamond frame for a traditional riding position, or the Step-Thru for easier mounting and dismounting. Same 250W EAPC motor, same components, same range and performance — different frame shape. Designed for proper distance riding rather than folded storage in a car boot or hallway, and road-legal in the UK as an EAPC.

FAQ

Is it road-legal in the UK? Yes. As a 250W EAPC it can be ridden on UK roads and cycle lanes — no licence, tax or insurance required. Minimum rider age is 14.

What's the difference between High-Step and Step-Thru? Same components, same battery, same motor — only the frame shape differs. The High-Step has a traditional diamond frame (top tube between saddle and stem). The Step-Thru has a low-step opening so you don't need to swing a leg over to mount or dismount. Pick the High-Step for a more standard riding position; pick the Step-Thru for easier access. The Step-Thru is also 1 kg lighter (33.5 vs 34.5 kg).

Why 26" wheels instead of 20" like the rest of your Engwes? Bigger wheels roll faster, climb obstacles better, and feel more planted at speed. The trade-off is the bike is bigger, doesn't fold, and is heavier to lift. The E26 is the right pick when you don't need a folder for a car boot — it's a proper distance e-bike.

Does it fold? No. The E26 is a full-size frame and doesn't fold. If folding matters to you, look at any of the other Engwes — EP-2 Boost, EP-2 3.0 Boost, Engine X, Engine Pro 2.0, Engine Pro 3.0 Boost, or L20 3.0 Boost.

What's the real-world range? 87 miles is the manufacturer figure in PAS mode on flat ground. Mixed riding — using more assist on hills, full assist into headwinds — typically gives 35–55 miles, which is comfortable for daily commuting and longer weekend rides.

Can it really climb 30°? 30° is the manufacturer's headline figure and represents the steepest gradient the bike can handle with rider input. On UK roads, where the steepest gradients are around 14° (25%), the E26 will get up anything you throw at it. Real-world climbing depends heavily on rider weight, fitness, and gear selection.

What sort of rider is it for? Riders who want a "proper" full-size bike experience rather than a small-wheeled folder. Daily commuters with longer routes, weekend leisure riders, anyone who finds 20" wheels twitchy at speed. The Step-Thru variant adds accessibility for older riders, shorter riders, and anyone with limited mobility.

How long does charging take? 5.5–6 hours from empty. Standard charging speed for Engwe — not as fast as the 8A chargers on the 3.0 Boost models, but quicker than the EP-2 Boost's 6.5 hours.

Is it heavy? 33.5–34.5 kg depending on frame choice. Normal for a full-size 26" fat-tyre e-bike. Lifting it onto a bike rack or up steps is a two-handed job; pedalling it feels light once you're moving.

How is it delivered? Pre-assembled to around 90% — pedals usually need fitting, handlebars need straightening, and the front wheel may need final tightening. Tools are included and most riders are ready to go in 15–20 minutes.
